THERAPY, COACHING, GROUP WORKSHOPS

MaryAnn McCoy MS, LPCC

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 20 years’ experience in counseling services. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I earned my undergraduate degree in Dietetics from California State University Long Beach. I take a comprehensive approach to therapy (body, mind, & spirit) looking at the entire person, relationships, and the environment they live in. I know how difficult life’s challenges can be, having gone through several of them myself. Individuals can feel helpless over their problems and suffer with intense emotional pain. I like to teach an attitude of hope and process of reaching out to others while providing a safe environment to be heard, understood, and guided. My main goal is to assist clients in recognizing their own abilities to solve many of life’s problems. We do this together through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (the way our thoughts influence our feelings and behavior), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Goal Setting, and other types of proven therapeutic treatments. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and groups that deal with a variety of relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction. I have had the opportunity to work at an inpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital in Riverside, California. I also had the pleasure of working in a large counseling center where I had the opportunity to learn from many other counselors. I have participated in Celebrate Recovery Programs at Saddleback Church, as well as continuing education in the areas of alcoholism, substance abuse dependency, spousal or partner abuse, aging, CBTI (cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia), grief, and psychopharmacology. I am dedicated to serving others, helping them grow, and achieve their dreams!
